Bogoslof volcano (Aleutian Islands): new eruptive phase detected, but weaker

The Alaska Volcano Observatory "detected a gradual increase in seismic activity at Bogoslof volcano this morning beginning about 4:22 AKST (13:22 Jan 17 UTC) and continuing as a series of discrete events until about 5:48 AKST (14:48 UTC) when a steadily increasing tremor signal was detected.
"The tremor persisted for about 30 minutes until approximately 6:21 AKST (15:21 UTC) and since then the seismicity has declined and remains at low levels. During this period of unrest no volcanic clouds were apparent in satellite data and no lightning strikes were detected." (AVO)
The Aviation Color Code of Bogoslof remains at ORANGE and the Alert Level at WATCH.
