Seismic signal from Bogoslof volcano, MSW station (on Makushin 60 km to the east from Bogoslof)
The first, smaller explosion occurred yesterday afternoon at about 15:46 AKST local time (00:46 UTC) and produced an ash plume that rose to approx. 25,000 ft (7.5 km) altitude.
Another explosive eruption began at the volcano at this morning at 04:26 AKST (13:26 UTC), and generated a plume that was at least as high as the previous one. Seismic data suggest that the main ash emissions lasted for several minutes and seismicity is currently low again. (AVO)
