The volcano continued to show a gradually decreasing trend of internal activity, is the conclusion of the latest bulletin SERNAGEOMIN published.
Seismic activity dropped drastically yesterday, with only one volcanic tectonic quake and low-energy continuous tremor registered. A white steam and gas plume with no ash rises about 1500 m above the volcano. Sernageomin lowered the status of the volcano to yellow.
Activity has increased again. Sernageomin reported 92 seismic events during 2-3 Jan and the occurrence of a seismic swarm on the evening of 2 Jan. A degassing plume was observed rising up to 1350 m, whose intensity was without apparent correlation to seismicity.
Seismic activity has decreased and no new surface activity observed. During the past 24 hours since last night, SERNAGEOMIN only detected one tiny volcanic earthquake.
SERNAGEOMIN reported a decrease in seismic activity. No new surface activity was noted, but the alert level remains at orange.

Seismic and degassing activity is on the increase, Sernageomin reported in its latest bulletin (29 Jan). During 28-29 Jan, a total of 345 volcanic earthquakes (plus more than 400 not counted ones because below threshold) and 6 hours of volcanic tremor were recorded.

OVDAS-SERNAGEOMIN reported that during 29 January-4 February the web camera near Copahue recorded white gas plumes rising 350-1,550 m above the crater and drifting E and SE. Seismicity fluctuated but mostly remained at low levels. The Alert Level was lowered to Yellow on 4 February.

Copahue today (SERNAGEOMIN webcam)
Seismic and surface activity remained low. However, SERNAGEOMIN also recorded 2 deep seated tremor pulses yesterday morning at 08:36 and 11:43 local time, wich could reflect magma movements at depth.

Copahue today (SERNAGEOMIN webcam)
The volcano remains calm at the surface, but SERNAGEOMIN reports continued high levels of seismic activity reflecting degassing and internal fluid movements.

Intense internal (seismic) unrest continues. Sernageomin reported 25 volcano-tectonic and 106 long period events as well as episodes of tremor during 19 hours between 22-23 Jan. An explosion signal was recorded at 23:55 local time (22 Jan) that corresponded to a brief increase of the height of the gas plume to 1500 m above the crater.

Seismic activity increased significantly during 22 Jan, SERNAGEEOMIN reported in two special bulletins. No eruptive activity at the surface has occurred so far, and the official alert level of the volcano remains at "Yellow", but with "Special Attention" (corresponding to "orange" in our classification).

OVDAS-SERNAGEOMIN reported that during 22-28 January the web camera near Copahue recorded white gas plumes rising 100-800 m above the crater and drifting E and SE. Seismicity remained at low levels. An explosion at 2355 on 22 January produced a gas plume (with no ash) that rose 1.45 km above the crater.

No surface activity and no glow has been observed, but there is elevated seismic activity of low energy with more than 1700 events detected between 15-16 Jan.

OVDAS-SERNAGEOMIN reported that the web camera near Copahue recorded white gas plumes rising 250-1,300 m above the crater during 15-18 January and drifting W and NW. Seismicity remained at low levels. The Alert Level was lowered from Orange to Yellow on 18 January.

The volcano produces a dense column of steam and gas rising up to about 1 km. During nighttime there is slight glow visible. More than 1200 earthquakes were recorded during 10 Jan.

SERNAGEOMIN reports a strong increase in seismicity during 8 Dec, when more than 1100 events were recorded with little change in surface activity (so far!).

OVDAS-SERNAGEOMIN reported that the web camera near Copahue recorded white gas plumes rising 0.9-1.5 km above the crater during 9-15 January and drifting NNE, E, ESE, and SSE. Incandescence from the crater was observed on some nights. Satellite images showed plumes drifting 10 km E and SSE during 10-12 January.

Chilean scientist think that new eruptions from the volcano could occur any time. SERNAGEOMIN's latest bulletin informs that the seismicity under Copahue has shown a significant change since 31 December. A number of quakes both related to fracturing of rocks and fluid movements appeared at shallow depths of 4 km and have been becoming shallower. Also, a change in the plume towards becoming denser and grayer, i.e. more ash-rich, has been noted in recent days. For this reason, the alert level was raised back to orange.

A steam and gas plume rises from the volcano, but no further explosions were recorded. SERNAGEOMIN keeps the alert level at yellow.

A steam and ash plume is rising a few 100 m and sometimes can seen on satellite images as well, but no recent explosions were reported.

OVDAS-SERNAGEOMIN reported that seismicity at Copahue during 31 December, and 2 and 4-5 January indicated magma movement focused at 4 km below the crater and moving to shallower depths. On 5 January seismicity increased as well as gray emissions observed with a web camera. The Alert Level was raised to Orange.
