The lava flow towards barranca Taniluyá is 500 m long and a second flow towards the Cenizas canyon has a length of 600 m. Both produce constant avalanches of incandescent blocks tumbling down towards the vegetation line.
Weak constant locomotive-like degassing noises are noted. During the latest 24 hour observation period, 9 weak explosions were counted that produced light ash clouds rising 200 m and drifting west. In addition, pulsating strombolian activity ejecting glowing bombs to 100 m height were seen occurring at intervals of 10-15 minutes.

Fuego volcano (Guatemala) - Smithsonian / USGS Weekly Volcanic Activity Report for 22 August-28 August 2012 (Continuing Activity)

INSIVUMEH reported that on 22 August the seismic network at Fuego detected lahars that traveled SE down the Las Lajas and El Jute drainages. During 22-27 August lava flows traveled 150-300 m down the Taniluyá drainage (SW) and as far as 400 m down the Ceniza drainage (SSW), generating incandescent block avalanches that reached vegetated areas. Incandescent material was ejected 100 m above the crater. ... Read all
