Fuego volcano (Guatemala): lava flows decrease in length

Fr, 24. Aug 2012, 10:05
10:05 AM | VON: T
Current seismic signal from FG3 station (INSIVUMEH)
Current seismic signal from FG3 station (INSIVUMEH)
No larger explosions were observed at Fuego yesterday, but there is weak incandescence visible at the summit.
The lava flow towards Taniluyá canyon is reported to be 150 m long, which would mean it has strongly decreased over the past few days (from 500 m). The second lava flow towards Ceniza canyon is still active as well.
Some stronger activity (possibly glowing rockfalls) is visible on the latest seismogram about 2 hours ago.
