Fuego volcano (Guatemala) activity update: weak explosions, lava flows
A weak steam and gas plume is rising from the crater steadily to 200 meters height and moving west. Weak explosions were observed, generating gray columns up to 400 m high, and drifting about 10 km to the west and northwest.

At night it was observed that the explosions had incandescent materials ejected up to 100 m above the crater. The explosions were accompanied by rumbling and degassing sounds like locomotive machines at intervals of 3-6 minutes. The lava flow toward Taniluya canyon reaches 200 meters in length, incandescent blocks detach from its front and roll down to reach the vegetation.

The lava flow towards barranca Taniluyá is 500 m long and a second flow towards the Cenizas canyon has a length of 600 m. Both produce constant avalanches of incandescent blocks tumbling down towards the vegetation line. read all

The lava flow towards the canyon Taniluyá has increased in length and now reaches 500 meters. From its front blocks detach and roll down to the edge of the vegetation. read all

Explosive activity at Fuego has been diminishing a bit; INSIVUMEH only reported 4 weak explosions during the latest 24 hour summary, which produced ash plumes rising 400 m and drifting west. ... read all
