Nishinoshima volcano (Pacific Ocean, Japan): large amount of gas

On 19 August Japan Coast Guard (JCG) did a flight observations by Haneda aircraft.
A white plume containing large amount of sulfur dioxide (SO2) reached 9,842 ft (3,000 m) altitude.
The island is covered by volcanic ash due to eruption from 1 August.
No lava flow is observed from the crater.
