The earthquake data on this map are collected automatically from various public data sources, namely USGS, EMSC, GFZ and GeoNet. In the list of quakes, you find a link to each source where further information about this individual quake can be found.
Smaller quakes (<M4) are only included in the areas which these agencies also cover for small quakes, mainly the US and Euro-Mediterranean regions. World-wide coverage is near complete for quakes >M4 and complete for M>5.

About our quake data

This site was created and is being maintained by a small passionate team of earth scientists enthusiastic about volcanism and earthquakes. Our goal is to present you with the best available quake data.
No single seismic network is able to monitor all quakes that occur in the world. This is why we continuously collect, aggregate, and compare earthquake data from more than 50 international and national data centers around the world in near real time. In addition, we analyze user-generated shaking reports to detect many earthquakes in areas with poor instrumental coverage or detect quakes even before they are published by monitoring agencies.
Our database is one of the most up to date and complete in the world. It currently contains data for about 10 million earthquakes since 1900. The AllQuakes website and Volcanoes&Earthquakes App both provide a way to visualize and analyze seismic events in near-real time. You can browse current and past earthquakes for the whole world, or specific countries, regions or areas you define yourself. You will find extensive lists with links to details for each event, statistics, and interactive maps.
