Reventador volcano (Ecuador): activity remains high, frequent small to moderate explosions

Mild thermal signal at Reventador volcano (MODIS data, Univ. Hawai'i)
Ecuador's Geophysical Institute characterizes the activity of Reventador volcano, currently the most active in the country, as "high". The latest report mentions 40 explosions during a 24 hour interval and a steam-ash plume that rose up to 700 m.
