Rincon de la Vieja volcano (Costa Rica): low-level eruptive activity continues

Eruption event from Rincon de la Vieja volcano yesterday (image: OVSICORI)
On 24 August at 16:02 local time OVSICORI-UNA observed a phreatic explosion likely that generated a white plume, which rose approx. 3,280 ft (1,000 m) above the summit.
No ash fall was reported.

OVSICORI-UNA reported that phreatic activity at Rincón de la Vieja had significantly decreased compared to activity during January-May. Events were recorded at 0546 on 5 August and at 1000 on 8 August, but not visually confirmed due to weather conditions.
