Aira volcano (Kyushu, Japan) - Smithsonian / USGS Weekly Volcanic Activity Report for 10 April-16 April 2024 (Continuing Activity)

JMA reported ongoing eruptive activity at Minamidake Crater (Aira Caldera's Sakurajima volcano) during 8-15 April with nighttime crater incandescence. An explosion at 2137 on 10 April produced an ash plume that rose 500 m above the crater rim and ejected large blocks 1.2 km from the vent.
