Sakurajima volcano (Kyushu, Japan) activity update

The volcano has been more productive again compared to most of this year so far. During the past 48 hours, VAAC Tokyo reported 8 explosions which ejected ash plumes to maximum of 8,000 ft (2.4 km) altitude. - All news about: Sakurajima volcano

Aira volcano (Kyushu, Japan) - Smithsonian / USGS Weekly Volcanic Activity Report for 19 March-25 March 2014 (Continuing Activity)

Aira volcano (Kyushu, Japan) - Smithsonian / USGS Weekly Volcanic Activity Report for 12 March-18 March 2014 (Continuing Activity)
JMA reported that during 10-14 March two explosions from Showa Crater at Aira Caldera's Sakurajima volcano ejected tephra as far as 1,300 m. Incandescence from the crater was detected at night. Volcanologists conducting a field survey on 10 March noted that sulfur dioxide emissions were 190 tons per day, lower than the 1,900 tons per day they measured on 4 March. ... Read all
