Santa María / Santiaguito volcano (Guatemala) activity update

INSIVUMEH mentions only degassing and a few weak to moderate rock avalanches from the dome, but the lava flows seem still to be weakly active judging from the latest webcam picture. Sporadic explosions probably continue as well.

Santa Maria / Santiaguito volcano (Guatemala) activity update: weak to moderate explosions, lava flows, hot lahars

Current seismic signal STG1 station showing near-constant rock falls from the lava flows
A white sustained gas and steam plume rises 600 m above the lava dome. There have been some weak and few moderate explosions, spewing columns of gray ash to 400 and 700 meters height, spreading west of the volcano until dissipating at about 12 km distance. Read all
