Santa María / Santiaguito volcano (Guatemala) activity update: steaming, small incandescent lava avalanches

No explosions were reported from Santiaguito during the past days. The observatory reports a steam plume rising 400m and small incandescent avalanches from the lava dome's lava flows on the NE and SE flanks.

In the Cone crater sustained Hot white plume 400 meters high. There have been few explosions with gray ash columns to 700 meters above the crater, moving west, northwest, over the region of the village of El Rosario and San Marcos, Palajunoj.
