At 05:29 today, a moderate explosion produced a gray ash column 900 meters high, moving southwest and causing ashfall 4 km in the Palajunoj areas. Incandescence was visible during the explosion. Weak avalanches from the southeastern lava flow continue.
INSIVUMEH mentions only degassing and a few weak to moderate rock avalanches from the dome, but the lava flows seem still to be weakly active judging from the latest webcam picture. Sporadic explosions probably continue as well.

INSIVUMEH reported that on 29 August fumarolic plumes from Santa María's Caliente dome rose 250-300 m and drifted SE. Small avalanches were active on the S part of the dome. Explosions on 3 September produced ash plumes that rose 200-800 m above Caliente dome and drifted W and SW.

Current seismic signal STG1 station showing near-constant rock falls from the lava flows
A white sustained gas and steam plume rises 600 m above the lava dome. There have been some weak and few moderate explosions, spewing columns of gray ash to 400 and 700 meters height, spreading west of the volcano until dissipating at about 12 km distance.

2 moderate explosions occurred early this morning at 04:08 and 06:11 local time and produced ash clouds rising 700 m. Glow from the lava dome, and avalanches from the active lava flows were reported.

Ash explosion from Santiaguito early on 23 Aug 2012
Most of the time, the volcano is covered in clouds. The volcano observatory reports a strong steam plume rising 150 m, few weak avalanches from the southeastern flow, and a moderate explosion at 06:33 earlier today, that produced an ash cloud rising 700 m, following a weak degassing sound 14 seconds earlier.

Ash explosion from Santiaguito early on 22 Aug 2012
Activity seems to continue with no major changes. INSIVUMEH has not published reports during the past days due to bad weather, but the seismic signal and webcam suggest that intermittent weak to moderate explosions and block avalanches from the active lava flows on the steep sides of the dome continue.

INSIVUMEH reported that during 22-26 August explosions from Santa María's Santiaguito lava-dome complex produced ash plumes that rose 700 m above Caliente dome and drifted SW. Block avalanches originated from the fronts of multiple active flows, particularly on the SE flank. Fumarolic plumes rose 150-400 m and drifted SW.

Weak to moderate explosions produce ash clouds rising 400-900 m and drift mostly W and SW to about 10 km distance before dissipating, and light ash fall can be observed in the areas of Monte Claro nd nearby.

weak ash emission from Santiaguito early on 15 Aug
Infrequent explosions produce ash columns up to about 1000 m height. The lava flows have been a bit less active recently and the number of avalanches they produced has subsided as well.

INSIVUMEH reported that during 15-16 and 18-20 August explosions from Santa María's Santiaguito lava-dome complex produced ash plumes that rose 400-900 m above Caliente dome and drifted 10 km W and NW. Block avalanches originated from the fronts of multiple active flows. White gas plumes rose 200 m and drifted WNW and SW.

STG6 station early today with a saturated signal (INSIVUMEH)
Activity has been higher at Santiaguito yesterday with weak to moderate explosions generating plumes to 700-1000 m height which drifted SW. There are 4 active lava flows on the flanks of the cone that produce constant rock avalanches, and a fully saturated seismic signal.

Santiaguito volcano with an ash eruption early on 13 Aug
An explosion at 05:49 local tie ejected an 800 m high ash plume and caused ash fall at Finca la Floridaand around San Marcos Palajunoj. Only few and weak rock avalanches were reported since yesterday.

Moderate explosion at 06:08 (INSIVUMEH)
A moderate explosion occurred today at 06:08 and expelled a grayish ash column rising to a height of 800 meters above the active lava dome and drifting west, resulting in ash fall over areas of Finca Monte Bello and part of the Village Loma Linda.

Current seismic signal at Santiaguito, showing the continuing rockfalls from the active lava flows
2 weak explosions were recorded yesterday at 05.10 and 5:50 pm producing gray ash plumes rising 300 m. Constant avalanches and active lava flows are present from the northeast, southeast, southwest and south and west flanks of the dome, which can be seen glowing at night. The rockfall signal is currently well visible on the seismogram.

Ash eruption and rock avalanche from the lava dome early on 7 Aug
Santiaguito's activity has been on the increase since last night. INSIVUMEH reports moderately strong explosions with incandescent material were observed frequently and generated ash plumes rising to 800 m drifting SW.

Santiaguito's activity continues at elevated levels. During 29-30 July, INSIVUMEH reports weak to moderately strong explosions that produced ash columns reaching 1,500 meters height and moving west southwest for 12 km.
