Based on analysis of satellite imagery and information from INSIVUMEH, the Washington VAAC reported that on 24 October an 11-km-wide ash plume from Santa María drifted over 30 km SW. A diffuse gas-and-ash plume drifted 18 km S the next day.
There are occasional weak explosions with small ash plumes.
Ash explosion from Santiaguito this morning
An explosion occurred at 06:09 h local time and produced a white column of 600 meters height that spread eastward.
Current seismic signal from STG station (INSIVUMEH)
A weak explosion was observed this morning at 06:01 local time. Otherwise, the lava dome has been steaming. The fronts of the lava flows remain weakly active.
Part of the southwest lava flow has collapsed in its east end, while some of the flow remains active. No explosions have occurred recently.
No or very few explosions are occurring from the lava dome in recent days. Steaming is seen from the dome, and weak avalanches from the (stagnating) lava flows occur.
INSIVUMEH reported that during 11-12 October white plumes from Santa María's Caliente dome rose 3.9 km and drifted S and SE. According to the Washington VAAC, INSIVUMEH reported a lava-dome collapse on 14 October. An ash plume observed in satellite imagery drifted WSW and W, and then dissipated.

There are still weak avalanches occurring from the lava flow fronts. No explosions were reported since yesterday.

The small pyroclastic flow this morning (INSIVUMEH)
A weak pyroclastic flow occurred earlier this morning at 06:01 hours from the SE-S side of the dome and produced an ash plume rising to 100 meters above the crater and causing minor ash fall on areas of Finca el Faro and San Jose.
Fri, 5 Oct 2012, 10:05
Weak to moderate explosions with ash plumes of up to 400 m height drifting west and northeast. Lava flows were active on the northeast and southeast sides of the cone and approached the Nima I gulley.
Thu, 4 Oct 2012, 12:05
Red glow could be seen at night from the lava dome. At 06:00 this morning, a small explosion sent an ash plume rising 600 m.
Wed, 3 Oct 2012, 10:05
There have been few explosions with ash columns 700 meters high, spreading south, southwest, on Palajunoj region.

At 05.33 h local time this morning a rumbling was heard in the Nima 1 gulley. There are constant avalanches from weak to moderate active lava flows, the most active being the northeast flow. A steam plume rises 400 m above the crater.
Mon, 1 Oct 2012, 10:05
Today, there were 2 weak explosions at 06:08 and 6:24 hours and a moderate one with incandescent material at 04:06 hours local time, generating ash plumes rising 600-800 m.

Explosion Sep 29. 2012 (INSIVUMEH)
At 05:18 hours local time yesterday, a rumbling was heard from the Nima 1 valley above the observatory. Most of the time, the dome is degassing with a 400 m steam plume.

Current seismic signal from STG station (INSIVUMEH)
The volcano is almost continuously hidden in clouds, but the seismic signal suggests ongoing rock avalanches from probably still weakly active lava flows on the dome flanks.
Wed, 26 Sep 2012, 06:00
INSIVUMEH reported that during 29 September-1 October explosions from Santa María's Caliente dome generated ash plumes that rose 600-800 m and drifted W and SW. Active lava flows generated block avalanches that traveled S down the Rio Nima I and Rio Nima II during 29 September-2 October.

Small avalanches from the southern side of the dome and few weak explosions ejecting ash clouds to 200-300 m height occurred during the past 24 hours.
Sun, 23 Sep 2012, 10:05
Small explosions with fine ash columns rising to between 300 and 400 meters above the crater, moving southwest. Degassing steam plumes of 100-150 m height, small avalanches on the southern slope of the dome.

Current seismic signal from STG1 station (INSIVUMEH)
INSIVUMEH reports only steaming from the lava dome, but the seismic signal still shows what probably are near-constant rockfalls from the steep slopes and still active (?) lava flows on its flanks.
Thu, 20 Sep 2012, 10:05
No explosions were reported from Santiaguito during the past days. The observatory reports a steam plume rising 400m and small incandescent avalanches from the lava dome's lava flows on the NE and SE flanks.

In the Cone crater sustained Hot white plume 400 meters high. There have been few explosions with gray ash columns to 700 meters above the crater, moving west, northwest, over the region of the village of El Rosario and San Marcos, Palajunoj. It is observed that the lava flows are active with avalanches and small pyroclastic flows blocks in front of them. (INSIVUMEH)

Few explosions ejecting ash columns 500 feet high, spreading west, northwest, over the region of the village of El Rosario and San Marcos, Palajunoj. Constant activity in the 4 active lava flows, generating avalanches of blocks deposited within the river banks Nima Nima I and II. (INSIVUMEH)

Santiaguito 09/13/2012 (INSIVUMEH)
INSIVUMEH reports weak to moderate explosions expelling gray ash columns 700 feet high moving southwest. Some moderate explosions are accompanied by rumbling sounds. There are constant incandescent avalanches from the active lava flows.
Thu, 13 Sep 2012, 10:05
A moderate explosion occurred yesterday at 05:38 and produced a gray ash plume of 700 m height and drifting 3 km SW, where light ash fall occurred (Parcelamiento Monte Claro). Weak rumblings and a steam plume are noted from the lava dome.
