The Alaska Volcano Observatory (AVO) reported that seismicity remains elevated with continuous low-level tremor. Satellite and web camera views were mostly obscured by clouds over the past 24 hours, but one relatively clear image showed a small gas plume emanating from the summit of the volcano. Eruptive activity appears confined to the summit area during this most recent period of unrest, which started mid-March. Activity could increase with little or no warning, however, resulting in lava flows and lahars outside of the crater and (or) ash emissions.

Shishaldin volcano (Aleutian Islands, Alaska): small steam plume visible

The Alaskan Volcano Observatory (AVO) report that the eruptive activity continues at Shishaldin volcano. Minor explosive activity has subsided over the past 24 hours, but seismicity remains elevated with near-continuous tremor. A small steam plume from the summit was observed over the past 24 hours. For now, eruptive activity looks as if it is confined to the summit area, but activity could increase with little or no warning resulting in lava flows outside of the crater, lahars, and ash emissions. ...
