Shishaldin volcano (Aleutian Islands, Alaska) activity update: low-level eruption continues
Alaska Volcano Observatory reported that seismic tremor at Shishaldin has increased over the past day. Satellite and web camera observations were partly obscured by clouds over the past day but elevated surface temperatures in the summit crater were observed in several clear views. Shishaldin volcano (Fox Islands, USA) - Smithsonian / USGS Weekly Volcanic Activity Report for 6 November-12 November 2019 (New Activity / Unrest)
AVO reported that the eruption at Shishaldin continued at variable levels during 5-12 November. Periods of high-amplitude tremor during 5-6 November were likely related to increased lava effusion and fountaining, though weather clouds prevented visual confirmation. Intermittent advancement of active lava flows and lahars on the N flank were confirmed in RADAR data, and by 7 November the lava flow was 1.3 km long and the debris flow runout was 5 km. ... Read all
