Suwanosejima volcano (Ryukyu Islands, Japan): explosive eruption of the volcano continues; no significant change since the last update

An ash plume rose 1,312 ft (400 m) above the crater rim. Incandescence continues to be observed at night.
In addition, JMA recorded on 17 March 3 volcano-tectonic earthquakes and intermittent tremor has occured.
The warning bulletin states that ballistic impacts of volcanic bombs and pyroclastic flows could affect an area of about 1 km distance from the main crater.
The Alert Level remained at 3 (on a 5-level scale).

JMA reported that during 13-19 March incandescence from Suwanosejima's Ontake Crater was visible nightly. On 14 March an ash plume rose 400 m above the crater rim.
