Background

The 6-km-wide Urbich caldera was formed during a Pleistocene interglacial period. A fresh-water caldera lake is present. No activity has occurred during the Holocene (Gorshkov ,1970). Urbich caldera (also known as Urumombetsu caldera partially overlies Rokko caldera.
