Suwanose-jima (Ryukyu Islands): (7 May) Volcanic Ash Advisory Center Tokyo (VAAC) issued the following report: ERUPTED AT 20210507/0638Z FL060 EXTD E OBS VA DTG:07/0630Z

Mayon (Luzon Island, Philippines): The volcano remains at light volcanic unrest, with faint glow from the crater visible at night and continuing ground deformation detected by instruments of the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS).
According to the latest bulletin released by PHIVOLCS on 7 May 2021 at 8:00 am, the Mayon Volcano Monitoring Network has not detected volcanic earthquakes during the last 24 hours. The latest measurement of sulfur dioxide emissions last 8 March 2021 was at an average of 80 tonnes/day.

Precise Leveling surveys on 4-11 March 2021 showed slight inflation of the edifice as compared to the December 2020 survey. Continuous GPS monitoring showed that the edifice is still inflated as compared to July 2019 despite a period of deflation since July-August 2020. Short-term inflation has been ongoing since November 2020. Electronic tilt monitoring showed deflation of the edifice with short-term inflation of the northwestern slopes since December 2020.
PHIVOLCS maintains the Alert Level 1 at Mayon volcano. This means that it is at at unrest, but no eruption is expected in the near future.


Sinabung (Sumatra, Indonesia): Explosive activity continues. Volcanic Ash Advisory Center (VAAC) Darwin warned about a volcanic ash plume that rose up to estimated 18000 ft (5500 m) altitude or flight level 180 .

As the lava dome continues to increase in size by the day, more explosions and pyroclastic flows can be expected in the near future.
The warning bulletin states that ballistic impacts of volcanic bombs and pyroclastic flows could affect an area of about 3 km distance from the main crater and 5 km on the SE flank and 4 km on the NE flank.


Popocatépetl (Central Mexico): Explosive activity continues. Volcanic Ash Advisory Center (VAAC) Washington warned about a volcanic ash plume that rose up to estimated 19000 ft (5800 m) altitude or flight level 190 .

Soufrière St. Vincent (West Indies, St. Vincent): (7 May) The National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO) in collaboration with University of the West Indies's scientists decided to lower the Volcanic Alert Level from "red" to "orange" as a significant decrease of volcano-tectonic earthquakes have been recorded. In addition, no explosions occurred at the volcano since 22 April.

"An orange Volcano Alert Level means that the volcano may resume explosions with less than twenty-four hours'notice. As a result of this, the Government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines have also taken the decision that residents of communities in the orange zone from Petit Bordel to Gordon Yard on the Leeward side of the island and up to Mt. Young near the RUBIS Gas Station on the Windward side of the island, can return home and carry out normal activities."
Lahars (mud flows) could continue to occur if heavy rainfalls remobilise the fresh ash deposits in valleys including Wallibou and Rabacca valleys.
