Klyuchevskoy (Kamchatka): (9 Jan) Volcanic Ash Advisory Center Tokyo (VAAC) issued the following report: POSS ERUPTION OBS AT 20170109/0230Z FL180 EXTD NW OBS VA DTG:09/0320Z

Shiveluch (Kamchatka): Volcanic Ash Advisory Center Tokyo (VAAC) issued the following report: POSS ERUPTION OBS AT 20170109/1320Z FL130 EXTD N OBS VA DTG:09/1350Z

Sinabung (Sumatra, Indonesia): The volcano remains active and Indonesian scientists predict it might well continue to erupt during the new year (as it has for more than 3 years already).

Slow arrival of viscous magma accumulates at the lava dome in the summit, feeding lobes that descend on the southern and southeastern flank, crumble away, generating rockfalls and occasional small to moderate pyroclastic flows. At the same time, gas is released by vertical explosions such as one this morning that produced a plume that rose approx. 2000 m from the volcano.
...9 Jan:
Volcanic Ash Advisory Center Darwin (VAAC) issued the following report: DISCRETE ERUPTION TO FL180.
...8 Jan:
Volcanic Ash Advisory Center Darwin (VAAC) issued the following report: DISCRETE VA EMISSION TO FL120 OBS AT 08/1640Z

...8 Jan:
Volcanic Ash Advisory Center Wellington (VAAC) issued the following report: CONTINUOUS ASH EMISSION AT VERY LOW LEVELS OBS VA DTG:08/2045Z

Bogoslof (United States, Aleutian Islands): The series of strong explosions at the volcano continues.
Another event started at about 22:30 AKST local time last night (or this morning 07:30 UTC) and was detected in seismic and infrasound data from neighboring islands and produced lightning.

...9 Jan:
Volcanic Ash Advisory Center Anchorage (VAAC) issued the following report: 0800Z eruption

Colima (Western Mexico): (9 Jan) Volcanic Ash Advisory Center Washington (VAAC) issued the following report: EARLIER EM AT 08/2220Z AND NEW

Fuego (Guatemala): Activity at the volcano is increasing again and the volcano might be heading towards another paroxysm.
INSIVUMEH's volcano observatory reported an average of 10 strombolian-type explosions per hour, with incandescent jets reaching approx. 120 m and ash plumes that rise up to 1000 m and drift 10 km before dissipating.
Unfortunately, both webcams pointed towards Fuego are at the moment offline, but the thermal signal is strong and shows a clear trend towards increasing activity. There was no mention of a lava flow in the latest report from the observatory.

Turrialba (Costa Rica): Volcanic Ash Advisory Center Washington (VAAC) issued the following report: ONGOING EM
...8 Jan:
Volcanic Ash Advisory Center Washington (VAAC) issued the following report: INTERMITTENT VA EMS

Reventador (Ecuador): Mild eruptive activity continues at the volcano where a flat lava dome is growing in the summit crater. A weak thermal anomaly is visible on satellite data and frequent, mostly small explosions produce mild ash emissions from time to time.
Ecuador's Geophysical Institute characterizes the activity of Reventador volcano, currently the most active in the country, as "high". The latest report mentions 40 explosions during a 24 hour interval and a steam-ash plume that rose up to 700 m.
...9 Jan:
Volcanic Ash Advisory Center Washington (VAAC) issued the following report: SIGMET FROM MWO GUAYAQUIL

Sabancaya (Peru): Volcanic Ash Advisory Center Buenos Aires (VAAC) issued the following report: SPORADIC PUFFS OF VA OBS VA DTG:09/1238Z

Nevados de Chillán (Central Chile): The activity of the volcano seems to have picked up a bit. Since 6 January, a series of intermittent mild to moderate ash emissions has been occurring at the volcano.
Thanks to reader Francisco Tascone who witnessed the first explosion in the current series from his hotel (attached picture).
