Etna (Sicily, Italy): (24 Jan) A long period of bad weather conditions prevented direct observation of Etna's summit over the past weeks. Nonetheless during brief moments of visibility a faint glow from the Voragine could be observed, together with discontinuous ash emissions from the South East Crater.
Since last night weak strombolian activity from the South East Crater has started and this has intensified during the day.

Additionally, on the 19th of January there have been four seismic events at shallow depths on the Pernicana fault in the NE flank of the volcano.

Bagana (Bougainville Island, Papua New Guinea): (25 Jan) Volcanic Ash Advisory Center Darwin (VAAC) issued the following report: CONTINUOUS VA EMSSIONS TO FL100 OBS VA DTG:25/0531Z

Langila (New Britain, Papua New Guinea): (24 Jan) Volcanic Ash Advisory Center Darwin (VAAC) issued the following report: VA OBS TO FL060 MOV TO NW AT 24/2120Z.

Colima (Western Mexico): Volcanic Ash Advisory Center Washington (VAAC) issued the following report: VA EMS NEAR 1345Z

Sabancaya (Peru): Volcanic Ash Advisory Center Buenos Aires (VAAC) issued the following report: INTERMITTENT EMISSIONS OF VA OBS VA DTG:25/1115Z

Erta Ale (Danakil depression, Ethiopia): News have come in about a fissure eruption at the SE flank of the volcano, approx. 7 km distance from the summit caldera and its lava lake (which partially collapsed on and after 20 Jan).

According to our local correspondents, the activity at the summit has decreased a lot, which would be in accordance with the scenario of lava now being drained through lower fissures on the flanks. Apparently, the fissures opened on or shortly after 21 Jan and produce large amounts of lava now flowing into the direction of Afdera.
