Bogoslof volcano (Aleutian Islands): eruption last night, ash to 32,000 ft altitude

Seismic signal of yesterday's eruption at Bogoslof (recorded on MSW station on Makushin volcano about 60 km to the E (AVO)
The eruption began at about 18:00 UTC (10:00 AKDT local time) and was observed by a pilot. It lasted approximately 3 hours. The volcano's Aviation Color Code was again raised to RED.

AVO reported that during 2-6 August no activity at Bogoslof was observed in mostly cloudy satellite images, and no activity was detected in seismic, infrasound, or lightning data. An explosive eruption began at 1000 on 7 August, following more than an hour of increased seismicity.
