Bogoslof volcano (Aleutian Islands): eruption last night, ash to 32,000 ft altitude

After a period of 4 weeks of calm, another strong explosive eruption occurred last night at the volcano, generating an ash plume that rose to estimated 32,000 ft (10 km) altitude.
The eruption began at about 18:00 UTC (10:00 AKDT local time) and was observed by a pilot. It lasted approximately 3 hours. The volcano's Aviation Color Code was again raised to RED.
