Great Sitkin volcano (Aleutian Islands): new lava dome confirmed

The lava dome continues to accumulate in the inner summit crater with a current diameter of approx. 130 m. The lava dome-like feature was first seen to appear on 22 July.
The alert level for the volcano remains at "orange".

Great Sitkin volcano (Andreanof Islands, USA) - Smithsonian / USGS Weekly Volcanic Activity Report for 21 July-27 July 2021 (New Activity / Unrest)
AVO reported that a satellite image of Great Sitkin acquired at 0932 on 22 July showed a small area of uplift, about 50 m in diameter, and elevated surface temperatures associated with the feature. These observations suggested magma rising near the surface, prompting AVO to raise the Aviation Color Code and the Volcano Alert Level to Orange and Watch, respectively.
