The National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology, Etneo Observatory (INGV) reported that a sudden, powerful explosion occurred at 14:18 local time yesterday from the NE crater.
The height of an ash plume is unknown and was not reported yet as visibility was partially limited due to dense clouds, but from the observatory's bulletin it dissipated towards the NE direction.
Partial collapse of the eruption column caused a pyroclastic flow that descended on the Sciara del Fuoco and reached the sea.
A small lava overflowed the north crater rim that has reached approx. 750 m elevation. It now appears cooling.
A sharp peak in tremor accompanied the event approx. one minute before the explosion and later decreased again to medium-low values.
The INGV observatory detected at about 18:33 local time returning of the activity back to the average levels.

Stromboli volcano (Aeolian Islands, Italy) - Smithsonian / USGS Weekly Volcanic Activity Report for 6 October-12 October 2021 (Continuing Activity)

INGV reported that during 4-10 October activity at Stromboli was characterized by ongoing explosive activity from three vents in Area N (North Crater area) and six vents in Area C-S (South-Central Crater area). Explosions from two vents in the N1 vent (Area N) ejected lapilli and bombs 80 m high, and produced minor ash emissions. Explosions at two N2 vents (Area N) averaged 3-8 events per hour and ejected material less than 80 m high. ... Read all
