White Island volcano (New Zealand): intermittent weak ash emissions continue

Very fine ash particles have adhered to webcams and visibility is very limited (image: GeoNet)
Passive emissions of steam and ash continue at the active vent area, but at lesser intensity since 7 September.
The local observatory cited in their latest bulletin: Observations of ash has been intermittent, and the amount of ash carried in the plume is small. When we have observed ash in the plume, these periods were not accompanied by impulsive or explosive seismic or acoustic signals, hence showing no evidence of eruption.
In the case of prevailing northern winds, fresh ash deposits may occur along the Bay of Plenty coastline.
The seismic activity is characterized by a continuous low-level volcanic tremor accompanied by occasional quakes.
Satellite based ground deformation measurements continue to show a broad region of subsidence around the active vents. This may be attributed to the release of pressurized gas at depth that has fed the recently observed plumes.
Volcanic Alert Level remains at level 2 and the Aviation Colour Code remains at Yellow.

Whakaari/White Island volcano (North Island, New Zealand) - Smithsonian / USGS Weekly Volcanic Activity Report for 8 September-14 September 2021 (New Activity / Unrest)
On 14 September GeoNet reported that intermittent ash emissions at Whakaari/White Island continued to be visible during the previous week. Vigorous fumarolic plumes from the active vent area sometimes carried minor amounts of ash downwind at low altitudes and occasionally deposited ash on the island. Periods where ash was visible in the emissions did not correspond to explosive seismic or acoustic signals, suggesting that the ash was produced by weak wall fragments falling into the gas stream through the active vents and not from eruptive activity. ...
